Blade Trilogy Honest Trailer Highlights Wesley Snipes' Wonderfully Random Catch Phrases

With the massive juggernaut that comic book movies have become, one franchise seems to get overlooked. Now, one trailer looks to fix that problem. Having said that, not everything about the Blade movies is actually good. While the first film was solid and the sequel was great, the third film was a mess. Also, Wesley Snipes dialogue was utterly ridiculous the entire time. Relive the best, and worst, of Blade with the Blade trilogy Honest Trailer. Check it out.

It's been 14 years since the last Blade movie, and so much has happened in the comic book movie world since then that it might as well be a lifetime ago. Before the MCU or even Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, there was Blade, which as the Honest Trailer point out, tends to be forgotten about by many people. The movie was really the beginning of the "good" superhero movies that began to come out at the turn of the century, but by virtue of the fact that Blade was never the most popular comic book character, even back then, many overlook that these were even Marvel movies. While Black Panther is the first black superhero movie of the MCU, it's not the first from Marvel overall.

Of course, part of the reason that many may have forgotten Blade as a character is that Blade Trinity, the last film in the franchise, is fairly terrible. As the honest trailer points out, another place where Blade predates the rest of the comic book movie world is in the way it did so well in its first two installments, before crashing and burning in part three. While the film had so much going for it, including Ryan Reynolds first stab at what would become his Deadpool shtick, it just didn't work.

The other issue may be that the film's do a pretty good job of dating themselves with all of the black leather trenchcoats and techno music. I haven't watched any of the Blade movies recently, but I'm not sure the style would come across quite as cool now as it did back in the late 1990s. Still, Blade does deserve to be remembered. A year before Blade came out, Batman and Robin was released and comic book fans all thought the idea of seeing their favorite heroes on the screen was dead. While Blade may not have been everybody's favorite character, he was the hero comic fans needed, as he showed that comic book based movies could be both good and successful.

So as you go see Black Panther this weekend remember that Blade paved the way. And while you're thinking about that, think about why "some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill" and then please explain to me what the hell that means.

When I first saw the post on Wendell's blog about the Acting Black Blogathon, somehow my first inclination is to write about Wesley Snipes. I know there are a ton of other great Black actors I admire - Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Laurence Fishburne, Don Cheadle, Samuel L. Jackson, etc. but I watched an interview…

Both the X-Men and Spider-Man franchises would follow suit, and they never could have gone off the rails so much without Blade to lead the way. So thanks, Blade. The post 'Blade' Trilogy Honest Trailer: Marvel's First Franchise Had Some Awful Vampires appeared first on /Film.

I decided to give this flick a shot based on the "decent" looking trailer and Wesley Snipes. This isn't the first time I've been fooled by a decent trailer, and I'm sure it isn't the last. That being said, this is my attempt at not letting anyone else get fooled by the decent trailer and the fact that Wesley Snipes is in it.
