Some Clever Infinity War Fans Gave Tom Holland A Bag Of Sand Because You Know Why
Warning: massive spoilers ahead for Avengers: Infinity War! If you have not seen the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster, we advise you to turn back now!
Those of you who have seen Avengers: Infinity War likely already know how intense the film gets in its third act. Thanos snaps his fingers to unleash the power of the Infinity Stones, and he successfully kills half of the beloved MCU heroes. One casualty of war is Peter Parker, who gets one of the most emotional deaths in the entire film. Still, we can't be sentimental about a death like that forever, and a group of fans decided to have some fun with Spider-Man actor Tom Holland by giving him a bag of sand to honor the fallen Peter Parker. Check out a photo of the hilarious fan encounter, below!
As fans of Avengers: Infinity War will quickly recognize: that bag seems to resemble Peter Parker during his final on-screen moments in the third Avengers movie. The character is one of the last to die after Thanos snaps his fingers, and he fades away in Tony Stark's arms as he apologizes for letting Iron Man down in the battle against The Mad Titan. Spidey's death has become a particularly resonant moment among many Marvel fans, as his utterance of the words, "I don't feel so good..." has become one of the most popular memes to hit the web in recent memory. In fact, judging by Tom Holland' s obvious frown in that picture, it would appear that the Peter Parker actor seems pretty torn up about the whole thing.
Of course, this picture stands as a firm reminder that the folks at Marvel will eventually need to explain how Spider-Man will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though it's reasonable to assume that some of the dead Marvel heroes may not return to action after their tragic deaths, Spider-Man seems like a safe bet to come back because of how new he is (he only joined the MCU in Captain America: Civil War) as well as the fact that a sequel to last year's Spider-Man: Homecoming is already in development and set to begin production soon. It's unclear what Marvel actually intends to do with the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man at this stage, but the smart money is on his death (and possible resurrection) playing a massive role in the events of Avengers 4.
If you want to see that heartbreaking Spider-Man moment on the big screen for yourself, then make sure to head over to your nearest theater and check out Avengers: Infinity War! Looking ahead to the next year, make sure to mark your calendars for the May 3, 2019 release date of Avengers 4 to see how Marvel will resolve this narrative thread!
