Jamie Lee Curtis Has Already Wrapped On Halloween

It's an exciting time to be a horror fan. Rather than cheaply made money grabbers, the genre is in a bit of a renaissance at the moment. Many of the genre's most exciting projects come from Blumhouse Productions, with the acclaimed studio bringing projects like Get Out, Don't Breathe, and the Purge franchise to theaters. Blumhouse is now turning its head on classic horror, with the Halloween sequel that is currently in the midst of production. Fans are eager to see Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode once again go toe to toe with Michael Meyers, 40 years after their battle in the original Halloween movie. And surprisingly, it turns out that Curtis has already wrapped production as the OG scream queen. Check out her post revealing this news, and thanking all the folks who have been kind to her while filming in Charleston, South Carolina.

It looks like Jamie Lee Curtis really made a home when returning to the world of Haddonfield, Illinois. Of course, she was in a different state entirely, but that's not really the point.

The original Halloween movie wasn't filmed in Illinois either. John Carpenter's classic slasher was filmed in just 20 days on location in California. As such, some palm trees famously make it into the final cut of the film, despite not being native to Illinois. But considering the bare budget and scrappy way Halloween came about, this should come as no great surprise. The palm trees have since become a fan favorite point of contention for the classic movie.

While Jamie Lee Curtis has wrapped her role in Halloween, it's unclear if the overall film has finished shooting. Curtis seems to be narrating her own experience, rather than announcing that principal photography had wrapped. This may lead some to wonder how large Curtis' role is as Laurie Strode.

Indeed, the new Halloween movie does have two other Strode women to focus on. Laurie's daughter Karen and granddaughter Allyson are being played by Judy Greer and Andi Matichak respectively. The dynamic between the three women will no doubt be an important aspect of the film, and having more lead characters no doubt helped ease Curtis' schedule on the sequel.

After wrapping, Jamie Lee Curtis also posted an adorable photo with her onscreen family, complete with matching t-shirts.

How cute is that? I'm really hoping that the three actresses just accidentally wore these outfits one day, resulting in this adorable Strode Family Photo. But smart money also says it was Jamie Lee Curtis herself who got the girls together. She just has that kind of spirit.

Jamie Lee Curtis is excellent, and she's backed up by a solid supporting cast which includes the always watchable Judy Greer and newcomer Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter.

Final Deadpool 2 Trailer Is Explosive And Hysterical, Watch It Now

The final trailer tends to be the most action-packed. The effects are finished. The jokes are finalized. The final bow is being placed on the whole gift, and the movie is heading to cinemas. That's the case with this last trailer for David Leitch's Deadpool 2, which is crammed with violence and thrills, as well as some killer self-referential punchlines. Watch it now!

Quick, rank your favorite jabs from the trailer! Mine has to be when Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) calls Cable (Josh Brolin) "One-Eyed Willy," a classic Goonies reference thrown back in Brolin's face. But because Deadpool is propping up 21st Century Fox's cinematic universe, I equally enjoyed the digs at Marvel -- when Brolin is called Thanos -- and that sweet swipe at DC for being so damn dark.

The final trailer for Deadpool 2 also makes it clear that Cable (Josh Brolin) and Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) are on opposite sides of a race to secure a mysterious kid (Julian Dennison), though it's for reasons we can't quite figure out yet. We know that Cable time travels back to our era from a ravaged future, so in classic Terminator fashion, Dennison's character, Russell, might hold the key to stopping whatever war Cable has been fighting in the future. It's also curious why Deadpool would even WANT to help this kid. He's pretty self-serving, so the fact that he wants to put a team together at all is surprising.

Ah yes, the team. This final trailer does confirm the names of the characters being played by the likes of Terry Crews (Bedlam), Lewis Tan (Shatterstar) and Rob Delaney. The comedian is poised to steal the show as he's playing Peter, a normal guy with no powers who just saw Deadpool's ad looking for teammates and signed on. The shot of him parachuting down into battle wearing his best Suburban Dad outfit made me laugh out loud.

It has now been one week since Green Book was the surprise (to many) winner of the Best Picture Oscar. The film also won Best Original Screenplay and a Best Supporting Actor trophy for Mahershala Ali; Viggo Mortensen was nominated for Best Actor and the film was also nominated for Best Film Editing.

Green Book felt a box office boost around the world, including at the March 1-3 domestic box office. The film took #5 on this weekend's chart with $4.7 million, according to Box Office Mojo. That was a boost of 121.4% from when it placed #11 last week. It helps that the film played on 1,388 extra screens, to maximize the attention it just got at the Oscars.

Also, apparently China is into it? You never know what China -- the second biggest box office market in the world -- is going to like, but Deadline reports Green Book made $17.1 million there. That reportedly makes it the market's second-highest grossing Best Picture winner behind Titanic.

Green Book saw an "Oscar halo," as Deadline put it, of $31.9 million in 63 markets. At this point, Green Book has made $75,920,611 at the domestic box office and $112,100,000 at the foreign box office for a current combined total of $188,020,611.

Nearly $200 million off a reported production budget of $23 million is not too shabby!

It's also somewhat surprising, considering the controversy surrounding the film for several months. (Then again, it didn't hurt The Upside, so maybe controversy helps.)

In Green Book, Mahershala Ali plays real-life jazz pianist Don Shirley in the 1960s. But Shirley's family reportedly blasted the movie as "full of lies," saying it misrepresented his relationship with his family. They also said Shirley never considered Frank "Tony Lip" Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen) to be his friend, he was simply his employee as a chauffeur.

Actor Viggo Mortensen also faced backlash when he used the n-word during Green Book promotion, and he later apologized for that. The film has faced a lot of criticism for its storytelling, including accusations that it promoted the the white savior trope. So it was seen as ironic that it won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

Green Book has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score (79%) since Crash, although it has been a hit with moviegoers (92% Audience Score). The film wasn't considered the frontrunner to win Best Picture going into the 91st annual Academy Awards, but it ended up a huge success for director and co-writer/co-producer Peter Farrelly.

Green Book will probably continue to pick up some decent money at the box office, and maybe crack $200 million as it rides this Oscar wave. As we wait to see where it goes from here, check out all the movies coming to theaters in 2019 in our handy schedule.

Rian Johnson couldn't have predicted the reaction to Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Every movie comes with built-in pressure, especially a chapter in a Skywalker Saga trilogy. But Johnson's first foray into the galaxy far, far away proved to be quite divisive, with fans taking up sides to defend or tear down decisions made by the filmmaker as he explored the need for the Jedi, and the direction of the Resistance. The levels of hate online reached epic proportions, and a new research study finds that the driving force behind some of that social-media backlash might have been Russian trolls.

Now, we know that complaining about Russian bots on social media is the go-to excuse whenever someone takes up an opinion that goes against your own. However, a research paper conducted by Morten Bay from the University of Southern California examined the users who attacked Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi on social media were, in fact, Russian bots, and concludes:

The study finds evidence of deliberate, organized political influence measures disguised as fan arguments. The likely objective of these measures is increasing media coverage of the fandom conflict, thereby adding to and further propogating a narrative of widespread discord and dysfunction in American society. ... The results of the study show that among those who address The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson directly on Twitter to express their dissatisfaction, more than half are bots, trolls/sock puppets or political activists using the debate to propogate political messages supporting extreme right-wing causes and the discrimination of gender, race or sexuality.

Rian Johnson, himself, shares Morten Bay's study, and clarifies that this is not about fans liking, or disliking, the middle chapter of the new Star Wars trilogy, but more to address what he sees as a "virulent strain of online harassment," stating:

Ironically, another movie, Venom, is running up against an online smear campaign at the moment, where bots appear to be Tweeting the same statement over and over, from different accounts, claiming the Sony movie is bad, and A Star Is Born is much better. How can one explain this?

Is the Internet increasingly becoming a more-divisive playground on which people can share their opinions? Absolutely, and it's probably fair to come to the conclusion that Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi beared the brunt of too much rebellious backlash against his movie -- a movie that proudly subverted expectations and genuinely annoyed some fans, but certainly isn't the trainwreck that Twitter might lead you to believe.
